Protecting businesses from Employment Relations risk!
Here are some common objections and how they can be answered
Really?
How different are you from the 150,000 cases that go through Acas and Employment Tribunals annually?
That’s good. We will reflect this in the premium. Yet there are 150,000 cases a year, many of which with employers for whom it is the first time.
And you may not ever had a fire either – yet you do protect your assets, and get financial protection, no? Employment Risks are no different, and should be treated the same way.
- Limits are probably low (£100,000)
- Coverage is very restrictive
- Many condition precedents before it responds
- It is a reactive, not pro-active, approach
Great! That means your risk is better than those that don’t have anyone dedicated to look after this risk, and we will recognise this in our pricing.
Yet, will they pay for your claims and legal expenses? We will. But we do not compete with them – we supplement what they do for you
Because you could be one of the 150,000 cases a year, and the total award + legal costs can be fatal to your business.
You do insure your assets – you should also insure your liability arising from wrongful employment practice.
You do insure your assets – you should also insure your liability arising from wrongful employment practice.
Compare the premium with the cost of:
- Getting your own employment relation expert
- The number of solicitors hours you could buy
- A £250,000 claim for discrimination and associated solicitor and barrister costs
- The value of all the included services if taken separately
Great! That means your risk is better than those that don’t have someone dedicated to look after this risk.
An HR Manager is a great point person for us to work with. We will support them (often understaffed), and bring them additional skills (they are usually generalists, not employment relation experts)
You may have some element of coverage under your Legal Expense Policy – but are you satisfied with the limits? The coverage? The Condition Precedents that apply in case of a claim? Of the Risk Management services that are included?
You could get “something” cheaper – not the whole package.
- How much would it cost you to get a set of 19 HR policies?
- How much would it cost you to have bespoke training sessions?
- How much would it cost you to have access to experts in employment relations, even before you have faced a claim?
Is it really comparable? Limits? Coverage? Expertise?

You may laugh, you may cry!
